Starting in summer 2022, Whitehorse-based Up North Adventures will be offering four new day hiking options.

Miles Canyon

Visitors take a scenic hike along Miles Canyon and the Yukon River! Along the way there will be photo opportunities at the wooden suspension bridge crossing the river and Canyon City, where remnants of an historic town from the Gold Rush days can be explored.

This trip is a great option for beginners.

  • Starting Time: 9am or 1pm – Your client’s choice!
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Difficulty: Easy walking on mostly flat trails, no experience required but some physical fitness is an asset.
  • Included: Hotel pick-up and drop-off, knowledgeable guide, snacks & refreshments.

Long Lake

A favourite with locals, Long Lake, invites visitors to hike through the boreal forest with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Guests will stop at the shore of the lake for snacks and refreshments halfway through the tour. On the way back, the hike takes visitors along a beautiful ridge which provides great views of the Yukon River, downtown Whitehorse and the lakes and mountains around it.

This trip is a great option for beginners.

Mount White (After June 16)

This hike is not for the faint of heart as visitors gain about 700m of elevation on this full day adventure. After the hotel pick-up we’ll drive about one hour south to the starting point of the hike. Mountain goats are often spotted grazing on the side of the hill. • Duration: 8 hours
  • Difficulty: Hiking experience and general fitness required

Visitors have the opportunity to wander through Carcross and go for a stroll along Bennett Beach. Before heading back to Whitehorse we’ll stop at Caribou Crossing where guests can visit the wildlife and RCMP museum as well as husky village. After an action-packed day, the group returns to Whitehorse around 5:00pm.
